I know it’s been a while since my last post - but I promise I’ve been keeping busy.
I took a short break from ML to try my hand at a different project that I’ve always been interested in - developing an iOS app! Nothing special, just a silly game for dogs (find it on the App Store here).
Here’s a video of Bobbi doing some UX testing:
And here are few of my takeaways:
Art is hard. Coding took about two weeks, but doing the art took just as long, if not longer. Feels great to be able to say I did everything on my own, but man, definitely going to consider hiring an artist if I do this again.
Something I learned: if it feels like the code is getting too complicated, that probably means there’s an easier way to implement (especially true for me, since all I was trying to do was make a stupid game for dogs).
I enjoy coding in Swift more than Python. I can’t really articulate why, it just feels a lot more like fun and less like work.
I have zero idea where to go from here, as far as marketing or gaining users. Advice is welcome...
I don’t really know how many dogs (or cats) will actually play an iPad game - I have a feeling that Bobbi is an outlier. But if your dog/cat does play, send me the video, I’d love to see it!
